Although it has passed through many hands, Armscor has existed for over 100 years. And something to remember, Rock Island Armory is one and the same.

12 gauge is notorious for knocking down personnel and infrastructure quickly, and nine rounds is one way to make an entrance. Small enough to not get in the way, but a large enough capacity to make quick work of bird(s) or intruder(s) makes this mag a great option.

This durable steel magazine complements the ruggedness of your shotgun while remaining lightweight and maneuverable. The side-facing witness holes indicate how much ammo you have left, eliminating guesswork and instantly alert you when it’s time to reload.

There aren’t many tasks this magazine wouldn’t be ideal for, so having a few on hand makes sense.

When your need for extra firepower goes beyond practical magazines, it’s time to whip out the big guns, or the big magazines. Two regular magazines stacked on each other give you a total of 19 12-gauge shotshells.

I don’t think anything is going to be standing in your way for long. The side-facing witness holes match the ones you see on the standard 9-round magazine, but only for the top half. If you still see shells, you’re good to go.

This magazine fits AR-12-style shotguns and is great for the range. However, using it for home defense might be too challenging due to its size. It’s up to you, though.

It may only provide one additional round over the above magazine, but it’s undoubtedly more maneuverable. Not to mention, it looks incredible too.

Constructed from high-quality polymer, it allows you to mitigate as much weight as possible while maximizing your capacity. It features a heat-treated chrome silicon wire spring for enhanced reliability and best of all, it’s made right here in the United States!

Do yourself a favor and grab a drum magazine. You won’t regret it.

A two-round magazine will not be a go-to for defensive purposes, but using this magazine for hunting is a whole different story. Again, it’s two rounds, but one in the chamber gives you three, and that’s pretty good for large bird flocks.

Thanks to its small capacity, reloading it will also take little time and it’s compliant with some states’ hunting magazine caps.

Like the 12-gauge magazines, these are made of steel but missing the side witness holes. Let’s be honest, you probably don’t need them for this small capacity.

I’d recommend this magazine for hunting. If you’re looking for “more”, keep reading.

This five-round 20-gauge magazine gives you more for home defense or whatever your heart desires. Two rounds of 20-gauge would not be the safest bet, but five shots of 20-gauge is enough to get you out of plenty sticky situations.

Like the other magazines on this list, this five-round magazine is made of high-quality steel and features an anti-tilt polymer follower. However, it too lacks witness holes. That would be something I would like to see added later down the line.

It’s small enough to be maneuverable and will pack a punch against whatever you need it to.

Five more rounds over the last magazine can come in handy depending on what you’re dealing with. For hunting, it definitely takes away the need for reloads, and you’ll definitely knock something out of the sky.

For home defense, that’s a bad day for that intruder.

This magazine (like the others) is made of steel, and thankfully these 10 round 20-gauge magazines have the witness holes like we saw on the 12 gauge variants. You won’t need to remove your mag to check until you’re down to the final four.

Thanks to the high-quality steel spring and anti-tilt polymer follower inside, you can count on these to perform when needed.

Last but not least, we have the big kahuna, the 20-round 20-gauge magazine capable of knocking down whatever unfortunate group decided your house was an easy target or, say, a door. If you’re using this for hunting, more power to you.

This magazine is enormous. Two of the 10-round magazines stacked on each other give you 21 shotshells if you keep one in the chamber. That’s enough for darn-near anything.

Although larger than life, these magazines are still lightweight enough not to weigh you down (outside of the 20 shotshells you have down there) THAT much.

Use them for what you wish. But be careful not to bang it on everything above knee level when running around.

Conclusion

If you own an AR-pattern shotgun, there is no reason you should not have several of these lying around. Magazines are like socks. You can never have too many, especially not too many of the good kind.

Even if you plan to reserve a few magazines for home defense, we always recommend testing all magazines for functionality and reliability. You never want to rely on something that hasn’t been personally tested.

Many of these are cheap, so you can stock up without emptying your bank account. Let’s see how many you can hide around the house!

Be good and take care.
