The CZ Scorpion has a long history of military and law enforcement usage and plenty of online wins in Call of Duty. Most of us fell in love with the famed firearm in the latter, and if you’re lucky enough to own one today, you know just how great it can be with its exceptional reliability.

If you’re training with your CZ Scorpion as often as you should, you’ll need some extra mags for the range and a few at home ready to go.

We’ve got you covered there. Our assortment of CZ Scorpion magazines is guaranteed to give you precisely what you’re looking for.

We will suggest magazines for all different purposes, including home defense, EDC (backpack), and the range. You’ll see some duplicates, but that’s because the magazines are just that good.

The CZ Scorpion 3+ 30-round magazine comes straight from the factory, so you can guarantee that it has seen thousands of rounds worth of R&D before being sold to the consumer. It’s an excellent replacement for your older magazines if they need replacing and is perfect for any occasion. Constructed from a high-impact polymer, it can withstand some serious use.

What’s better than having 30 rounds at the ready in any situation? Answer: Not much, unless you have more than 30 rounds.

Well, the PMAG EV9 from Magpul holds five more rounds than the standard 30-rounder from CZ.

Five rounds may not sound like much, but they can make a difference. If you keep your Scorpion next to the bed like I do, 35 rounds in a home defense situation is one hell of an equalizer if you have a few uninvited guests.

The magazine is constructed from the same materials that made the standard AR-15 PMAG famous. These magazines are lightweight yet able to withstand the heat.

Home Defense

Using a Scorpion for home defense is a smart move. Its compact size means you can clear the house all day long, and there is enough attachment space for lights and whatever else you need.

Regarding home defense, you want to ensure you have the most reliable firearm and can mitigate potential failures as much as possible. When running these factory magazines, the last thing you’ll need to worry about is a magazine-related failure.

So, for home defense, I’d recommend sticking with factory mags to be safe. There’s no room for error when it’s life and death.

A large magazine protruding from the bottom of your firearm when you’re trying to grab it quickly and get to the threat even quicker can limit your movement, add extra weight, and potentially slow you down.

While I always recommend having more ammo than less, in certain situations, you may be better off with a shorter magazine. You’ll still have 20 rounds of 9mm at the ready, but in a smaller and lighter package, which is crucial for home defense, especially if you’re of a smaller stature.

Again, these magazines coming from the factory means the Scorpion was designed to run well with them.

Range

You’ve heard the saying, “Practice makes perfect,” correct? Well, if you don’t go to the range to get better or learn how your firearm works, you can’t expect to perform on game day when you haven’t shown up to practice.

You’re in the right place if you need extra magazines for the range.

For Getting Reps In: Your Defensive Magazine

By this, I mean the magazine you’ll be using to defend yourself should also be the type you’re hitting the range with.

Any difference in how your firearm feels can throw you off your game, and you don’t want to worry about that when a bad guy is banging on your door.

So, if you’re using a 50-round drum magazine for home defense, get those reps in with your 50-round drum magazine.

Speaking of 50-round drum magazines…

A drum magazine on a Scorpion is a great way to spend an afternoon. I usually recommend drum magazines for breaking in a firearm since you can get more rounds through the gun quickly and knock off the dust from the factory.

Just like a good pair of jeans, you have to break them in.

So, if you’re just getting your Scorpion and want to get through the breaking-in process as quickly as possible, pick up a drum mag or two and a speed loader and just go have fun for the first 500 rounds.

Going to the range and returning with sore thumbs from getting that last round in the magazine is old news. If you want to save time at the range and focus on what’s important, which is shooting, grab a magazine loader. Work smarter, not harder.

Conclusion

Having the right magazine for your Scorpion is critical to ensure you get the most out of your firearm. Luckily, CZ knows how to make a quality firearm, so you don’t have to worry much about the platform itself failing.

However, a lousy magazine can definitely stir up the pot, so invest in good magazines and replace them as needed.

Be good and take care.
