The FN Reflex first appeared in April 2023 and quickly gained popularity as a competitor to the Sig Sauer P365 and Glock 43X. With a standard magazine capacity of 11 and 15 rounds, plus all the features you expect from FN, it is one of the best micro compacts on the market.

Those features include a crisp and tactile trigger, a cold hammer-forged barrel, and superior ergonomics. Additionally, there are MRD (Micro Red Dot) models, that are perfect hosts for your favorite optics.

And with the recent release of the Reflex XL, there is no better time to break down all of the available magazines out there. But first, what’s the difference between the Reflex and Reflex XL?

Size, of course. The standard Reflex focuses more on ultimate concealment with a 3.3-inch barrel, whereas the XL has a 3.8-inch barrel.

As you can imagine, the XL is heavier, at 20 ounces versus the Reflex coming in at 18.4 ounces. That’s not much for the extra hand space you get.

If you’re here, odds are you own a Reflex or Reflex XL, or plan on buying one soon. It’s a solid pistol, and after the break-in period, the Reflex can be one of the best micro-compacts in your rotation.

Let’s talk magazines.

Self Defense (Carry, Home Defense, etc.)

We typically only recommend factory magazines for reliability purposes. Although every part, factory or not, can fail, and every magazine should be tested thoroughly before you bet your life on it, we’ve seen better success from factory mags overall.

So, if you’re looking for OEM magazines to serve in a defensive role, you’re in the right spot.

FN Reflex 10-Round Magazine

This 10-round FN magazine is suitable for those who live in states with magazine restrictions or just want a low-capacity magazine to keep the weight down.

This magazine sits flush with the grip of the FN Reflex and keeps the whole package as compact as possible. This is important if you’re planning on carrying during the summer or living where the heat is typically high year round.

Yes, southerners. This one is for you.

The magazine is made of stainless steel and features an anti-tilt polymer follower. The feed lips are reinforced, further enhancing the feed reliability and lifespan of the magazine.

If you like a low-key and compact carry gun, consider this mag. But if you need some extra finger space, keep reading.

FN Reflex 11-Round Magazine

Having a finger rest on your magazine can make a world of difference. When it comes to being accurate with your firearm, you want to have as much real estate for your hands as possible.

Big-handed shooters, we feel you. And so did FN, which is why they introduced a finger rest to the 10-round magazine, giving way to one extra round. Sure, nothing to write home about, but an extra round is an extra round.

As you can imagine, this magazine is made of the same materials as the 10-round magazine and sits flush with the grip of your Reflex aside from the finger rest.

If you want extra real estate for your mitts and an extra round for the road, this is the one.

FN Reflex 15-Round Magazine

Having a compact pistol is great, but only having 10 or 11 rounds can leave you feeling like you’re lacking.

The extra four rounds can make a big difference, especially if you’re dealing with multiple targets. And when it comes to your life, why not have the extra insurance?

Remember the saying, “Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it? ” In some cases, these are words to live by, like having extra ammo on tap.

Like the other FN factory magazines, this 15-rounder is made of stainless steel with a polymer baseplate. Naturally, it extends past the grip but conveniently adds an extra inch to the height, meaning more space for your hands.

These mags may cause printing when carrying, but a slightly oversized shirt is enough to keep it away from the public eye.

Range Days

We know there’s not much variety here. FN does not have the most considerable aftermarket support, but we do have something for those extended range days!

FN Reflex/Reflex XL 18-Round Magazine

This factory extended magazine provides the extra firepower you want for your next training session, but it does extend quite far past the either model’s grip, just enough to make concealed carry difficult.

So, as a range magazine, you can get all of the factory reliability you’d expect while having the trigger time of an extended mag. Conveniently, this magazine comes with a sleeve, so you don’t have to worry about the stainless steel tower hanging out of the magwell.

Unless you’re into those kinds of things, I’m not judging.

Like all of the other factory FN magazines on this list, this one has rear-facing witness holes and an anti-tilt polymer follower to keep things in check while you dump the magazine into the paper down range.

ProMag FN Reflex 20-Round Magazine

ProMag seems to offers magazines for almost every gun, so you can say it has some experience. This steel-bodied magazine, features a polymer grip sleeve to keep the steel protected, and delivers a capacity of 20 rounds.

They will provide you with a solid amount of trigger time before having to reload and they are best reserved for good old fashioned range time.

Just make sure you grab a mag loader to help save time and your thumbs.
