Not all aftermarket magazines are created equal, and that’s one thing we can definitely confirm. Many companies that have entered the industry, trying to gain market share in the oversaturated magazine space, simply don’t deliver what consumers want. KCI USA (KCI) is not one of those companies.

The main driver of aftermarket magazine demand usually comes down to cost. However, most people agree it’s not worth saving a few bucks to have a magazine that can’t function or you need to replace after a few hundred rounds.
This is where we see a select few manufacturers, KCI being one of them, stand out and maintain market share.
Who Is KCI?
KCI started producing magazines in 1984 in South Korea. Since then, it has brought some of its manufacturing to the United States, but its focus has remained the same: delivering high-performing magazines at affordable prices.

Most notable for its AR-15, Glock, AK-47, and MP5 magazines, you can often count on them as one of the more reliable aftermarket options. Of course, if you want maximum reliability, you go with factory magazines, but you’ll have to pay a premium. That said, we do recommend factory magazines for any defensive firearms. But we digress…Back to KCI!

What’s Next For KCI?
We don’t have any secrets to share, but if we had to guess, there will be some rimfire and/or AR-10 magazines coming soon. They are the two platforms that are popular and being requested enough to hopefully push KCI to expand its product line.
