If you have spent much time at the range, you appreciate small tools that save time and leave your hands intact. Magazine loaders are one of the most underappreciated conveniences that become indispensable once you actually use one. One of the best investments I ever made in my firearms journey occurred the day I purchased a speed loader.

MagLULA Spotlight

The loader covers a wide variety of magazines, making it well worth the money.

MagLULA is one of the biggest names in speedloaders and for good reason. Its products have made range days a more pleasant experience for countless shooters. Today, we are going to look at three of our favorite MagLULA products and why you need them.

The UpLULA is the product most people picture when they think of MagLULA. The UpLULA is designed to work with a broad range of pistol magazines from 9mm to .45 ACP. It is compact, ambidextrous, and something you should buy right now, before you finish reading this article. I have loaded more than 5,000 rounds with mine and absolutely love it.

The UpLULA’s design is simple. You put the loader over the feed lips, squeeze, press down, insert a round into the device, and the round drops into the mag. Repeat. It speeds up the process and prevents some thumbs. If I am loading my pistol mags, I am reaching for my UpLULA.

UpLULA

Some of the magazines I have used the UpLULA with include Glock, Ruger, Smith & Wesson, Taurus, and Sig Sauer.

What makes it worth owning is not anything flashy. It is reliability and ergonomics. It does not bind on common mags, and it handles most double-stack pistol magazines with minimal fuss. If you typically shoot a mix of brands, Glocks, Smith & Wesson, Sig, Ruger, or others, the UpLULA will be your go-to. Reload time cuts into shooting time, and it lets me focus on the drill rather than loading mags.

Ruger 10/22 owners know the pain of loading rotary and single-stack 10/22 magazines by hand. The MagLULA 10/22 loader is compact, easy to use, and makes loading your 10/22 magazines incredibly easy. As soon as I loaded my first magazine with it, I was amazed at how much faster it made loading magazines.

10/22 loader

The 10/22 loader compresses the top cartridge, making it easier to insert more rounds.

I own several firearms that use Ruger 10/22 magazines. They are some of my favorites, and I like to shoot them with my kids. It’s just as simple to use as the UpLULA, compressing the top cartridge with ease to drop another round in easily. Whether you’re running the standard 10-round magazines or extended 25-round mags, you’ll be set!

10/22 Loader

The 10/22 Loader works with traditional 10-round rotary magazines and with large capacity BX-15 and BX-25 magazines.

Loading up AR magazines can be a pain. If you plan any amount of volume shooting, having a speedloader makes the experience significantly better. This is where MagLULA’s AR speedloader comes in.

Loading up AR magazines

By pushing the lever on top back and forth, you instantly create space for your next round, saving you time and effort. You can also similarly unload your magazines, which makes it even more helpful. On top of that, you can store the lever inside the loader’s body when not in use, making it perfect for your range bag.

Excellent Build Quality

MagLULA’s products are not some high-tech gimmick. It uses polymer where possible for weight reduction and durability, adds metal where it is needed, and then builds its loaders to last with high quality control. Maintenance is negligible with the UpLULA, 10/22 Loader, and AR Loader. Wipe them down when necessary and get to work loading mags. I have never had to do anything with my UpLULA loader and have over 5,000 rounds loaded. From my experience, your MagLULA speedloaders will withstand thousands and thousands of rounds.

Compatibility

In real use, you will find the UpLULA covers most popular pistol mags across 9mm, .40, .45, and even some smaller calibers. The AR loader is tuned for AR magazines, including polymer PMAGs and steel bodies. The 10/22 loader works with the standard rotary and single-stack 10/22 magazines. If you shoot an unusual or proprietary magazine, double-check before you buy. In the common calibers and mag types shooters use most, MagLULA’s offerings do the job cleanly.

The MagLULA UpLULA is a must-have for pistol owners.

Cost Versus Convenience

Magazine loaders are inexpensive compared to the value they add. A small outlay delivers comfort and speed. When you consider the amount of time you spend loading magazines over your life, this easily adds up to hours saved. For instructors, competition shooters, and anyone who frequently enjoys time at the range, the return on investment can be substantial. The loader is not a gimmick.

Last Words

These loaders are simply no-brainers. Spending your time shooting your guns is always preferable to spending your time reloading mags.

MagLULA’s speedloader does something most gadgets claim without delivering. They remove repetitive, nuisance tasks, speed up mag reloading, and keep your hands working at the end of a long range day. In a world of flashy optics and accessories, MagLULA provides a concrete win that’s simple and affordable. You will be surprised how quickly a simple loader becomes one of your most frequently used tools.
