SHOT Show is far more than just firearms. Of course, there are plenty of those, but you also have optics, new tech, plate carriers, gun belts, and people who crowd up the line for a sticker and patch drop (you know who you are).
Everyone can find something that they enjoy, whether you’re a big tech nerd or simply a hobby shooter. All of the goodies on this list caught our eye as we walked the floor and distracted us for longer than we should have. Hopefully, these give you a better idea of just how cool SHOT can be!
IAI APUS-60 / Sig Sauer Drone
Sig Sauer unveiled a collaboration drone at SHOT that can use its M250 belt-fed machine gun to provide short-term loitering air support.
Kinda like the drone in Tom Clancy’s The Division. Think of it that way, but 1,000 times the size.
The IAI APUS-60 fires electronically and also detects targets out to 25km, thanks to its 10x optical zoom and 5x zoom at night with thermal optics.
Sig says it can also be used for ISR (Intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) and as a sort of an unmanned combat patrol that acts as eyes in the sky for troops on the ground. This can be great if air support is far out and you need the extra firepower.
An extra 200 rounds of 7.62×51 can make a huge difference. But after that, it’s basically a huge camera. The question is, where does this thing become useful? Using it for ISR seems like wishful thinking, and 200 rounds isn’t a good trade-off for how much space this thing takes up.
It sure is cool though!
EOTECH EXPS3 HD
EOTech’s Holographic Weapon Sights have always been one of the go-to optics for shooters who need maximum durability and an optic that can keep up with even the toughest circumstances.
The EXPS3 HD keeps that tradition with a few new features. A new side rotary dial, ShakeAwake technology, and adaptive auto-brightness all come standard (finally). If you’ve ever run an EOTech, you know how huge that is, since the reticle can be so bright at times that it washes your sight picture.
It also features 4 different NV settings, and 7 daytime settings, which are all controlled via the side rotary dial. No more buttons.
New Magpul Colorways (ODG, MCB, MCT, FDE)
Who has been supplying some of the best magazines and accessories and has one of the greatest marketing teams in the industry? If you guessed Magpul, then you’d be 100% correct. For those who have been wanting different colorways for your PMAGs, you’re in luck.
OD Green, Modern Coyote Brown, Modern Coyote Tan, and Flat Dark Earth have all been added to the list for colors available on Gen M3 P-Mags and other available accessories. Some of these colors are making a comeback, while MCB (Modified Coyote Brown) is brand new to the lineup.
No more having to rattle can your mags and accessories to fit your build, and no more having to send them out to get cerakoted. The new colorways will be on the shelves in March and will include .300 Blackout magazines!
Holosun AEMS-EVO-DUAL
For Holosun’s new AEMS-EVO-DUAL, it decided to go back to the drawing board and create an optic that is not only compact but delivers the biggest sight window (1.26×0.98) for its size and has this trick up its sleeve. Integrated lasers.
The EVO-DUAL uses dual sensors to adjust reticle brightness, then takes it up a few notches by incorporating IR and visible lasers to give the shooter more options during day and nighttime operations.

It has more features than you’ll know what to do with. Source
It, of course, features all of the other goods you can expect from Holosun as well. A Multiple Reticle System, ShakeAwake, Solar Failsafe, and memory from prior operations help the optic stay ready for whenever the time comes. They are also made of 7075-T6 Aluminum to ensure you get maximum durability.
You’ll also appreciate the tri-channel zeroing system that ensures the reticle and both lasers are always aligned.
If there’s one thing that’s for sure, Holosun is a pioneer of future optics.
Silent Steel USA Streamer Suppressor
Silent Steel USA is a longtime and proven purveyor of European suppressor systems and has brought some of that magic across the water.
The big draw? FLOW-IQ technology. What is it? Well, instead of simply pushing the gases out the front of the suppressor, the Streamer twirls them upward due to its internal geometry and dissipates energy more efficiently than a typical baffle system.
What are the benefits? Silent Steel USA mentions the following:
- Simplified Cleaning
- Better heat dissipation during sustained fire (translates to a longer can life)
- Reduced backpressure and blowback, which keeps your rifle cleaner and safer. Also limits your lead exposure.
It comes in three sizes: Full Size, Compact, and Micro. Of course, the longer suppressors have more sound suppression, while the micro is geared more towards short-barreled rifle operations. They are available in Black, ODG, and FDE, so you’ll be able to match your build, if you’d like.
Surefire XC3 Sub
Surefire has always made some of the best weapon lights on the market. Pricey, yes, but definitely top tier in the light category. Now, they have unveiled a new optic for subcompact pistols. For Glock 43X owners looking for a weapon light, this one is for you.

The compact light we’ve been waiting for. Source
It works on different firearms, but we know Surefire typically fits best with Glocks. The XC3 Sub offers 1,000 lumens and 13,000 candela to light up your way, as well as a front-loading battery.
The XC3 Sub does only get 45 minutes of runtime, though. It’s not much, but enough to make sure you can easily I.D. your threat during a bad situation.
Shield Arms DS18 and DS20 magazines
Glock fans, you have new aftermarket magazines coming your way! Shield Arms brought forward two new Glock 17 and 19 magazines to up the ante on capacity.
The DS18 is made for the Glock 19. It gives the Glock 19 three more rounds for a total of, you guessed it, 18 rounds. On the other hand, the DS20, which is meant for the Glock 17 (or 19x, 45), also gives another three more rounds. Anyone want to guess the final capacity?
Everyone always wants more ammo, especially when it doesn’t take up too much real estate or make the firearm cumbersome. The steel bodies on these magazines are robust and feature an over-insertion stop, which is missing on many aftermarket magazines, but brings the new Shield Arms mags closer to Glock perfection (in reliability, anyway).
As a bonus, you can add a Shield Arms mag extension for even more capacity!
Federal’s New Subsonic Ammo
“Shhh, quiet down.” Or at least that was what the Federal Rep said when we approached the table to take a look at their new Subsonic ammo. Before I get into it, Subsonic ammo travels below the speed of sound to eliminate that supersonic whip that you get when the round is traveling over the speed of sound.

You can see that Federal has been busy. Source
These molecularly bonded bullets feature a precision polymer tip that provides aggressive expansion with pinpoint accuracy. This is hard to achieve with subsonic rounds, but Federal promises both.
You’ll be able to find these available soon in .308 Win, .300 BLK, .45-70 Govt, and 30-30 Win.
Conclusion
As I said before, SHOT show is so much more than just guns. You can find almost anything in there that could relate to combat or self-defense.
Be on the lookout for these products and others in the wild. It’s only a matter of time before we see them “on the shelves” and all over social media.
