Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy Magazines

Typically, the easiest way to discern between a 1911 and a 2011 is the magazine style. A 1911 usually features a single-stack magazine, while a 2011 features a double-stack magazine. However, it can also come down to whether the pistol’s frame is a two-piece design (2011) or one solid piece (1911). In the case of the Prodigy, it features a solid frame but a double-stack magazine and is considered a double-stack 1911.

The DS stands for double stack, which refers to the type of magazine that the Prodigy accepts. The double-stack magazine provides shooters with a higher capacity than your standard single-stack 1911 magazine.

There is not a California legal Prodigy model or compliant magazines available for the Prodigy.
