Every responsible concealed carrier eventually faces the same challenge: finding the right balance between firepower, shootability, and concealment. The keyword there was balance: you’ll want to ensure each is covered without neglecting any.
A smaller handgun is easier to conceal under everyday clothing, reduces printing, and makes inside-the-waistband carry far more comfortable. Comfort matters because an uncomfortable pistol is more likely to be left at home, defeating the purpose of concealed carry in the first place.
Then, whatever pistol you’re going to carry, you’ll want it to have respectable stopping power and capacity. If you ask me, that means no calibers under 9mm and a minimum of double-digit capacity.
Last but certainly not least, you need to train and know that you can shoot the gun well. After all, it won’t matter how many rounds you have if you can’t hit anything with it!
The Smith & Wesson M&P Shield X, Glock 43X MOS, and Sig Sauer P365 X-Macro easily check all of those boxes, but with so many similarities, it can be hard to pick one. Of course, you don’t actually have to pick one of these, but if you’re just beginning your concealed carry weapon search, these are great to start with!
Side By Side
When comparing these three pistols side by side, you’ll be able to see just how similar they really are. Each one compact and slim, making them very easy to conceal with a proper IWB holster. If you were to compare them all just by size, you’d have a very hard time making a decision!

To better help you understand which may be best for you, let’s take a closer look at the finer details.
A Close Look At The Contenders
Shield X
Smith & Wesson’s M&P Shield line has been at the forefront of many “best concealed carry pistols” lists over the last several years, and for good reason. However, up until the most recent iteration, the Shield X, there always seemed to be one feature or another that was missing, whether it was a flat trigger or an accessory rail for example.
Thankfully, those features now come standard, along with improved ergonomics and a ClearSight Cut that diverts gases away from your optic. Just like the other models before it, the Shield X delivers superior reliability, accuracy, and an impressive capacity as it comes with a flush 13-round magazine and a 15-round extended magazine.
Glock 43X MOS
The Glock 43X MOS is one of the most popular ccw pistols on the market, thanks to Glock’s infamous reliability. Once you pair that with the 43X’s ultra-compact footprint, its easy to see why so many shooters carry one.
Glock has arguably more aftermarket support than any other manufacturer, which means you’ll be able to find parts, accessories, and holsters with ease. The one main complaint about the 43X is its capacity, as it comes with a less than ideal 10-round magazine. However, thanks to that aftermarke support we just mentioned, you can grab higher capacity magazines such as the Shield Arms S15 to pump those round counts up to where the Shield X sits.
If you do opt for the Glock 43X, I highly recommend going with the MOS version which will provide you with the ability to mount an optic. It is 2026 afterall!
Sig P365 X-Macro
No 9mm concealed carry listicle would be complete with a Sig P365 variant. The P365 X-Macro is easily my favorite of the line, delivering a whopping 17+1 capacity while keeping a compact profile.
It has all the bells and whistles you could want: an optics-ready slide with night sights, a crisp trigger, and an accessory rail. Plus, it comes with interchangeable backstraps to make it fit your hand perfectly.

With the addition of the Streamlight and Holosun, this is a hard-to-beat setup. Source
The fact that Sig managed to pack this much firepower in such a small package makes it very hard to overlook the P365 X-Macro.

Is There a Winner?
Ultimately, the best concealed carry pistol for YOU is the one that you shoot best and train with. The Shield X, Glock 43X MOS, and P365 X-Macro all represent the best of what modern carry pistols have to offer.
Each provides a strong balance of size, capacity, and shootability. Regardless of which pistol you select, consistent training, quality defensive ammo, and a secure holster are just as important as the pistol itself when it comes to carrying responsibly. Do your research and choose wisely, or just buy them all!
As always, stay safe, trian hard, and have fun.
